Complementary Medicine and the Conversational Model

This live webinar will commence on 15 August, 2026 at 9am - 12pm (AEST) | 11am - 2pm (NZST).

The seminar will begin with a keynote presentation by Dr Carrie Thomson-Casey (Southern Cross University), who will explore the nature of complementary medicine, its status as a form of knowledge, and the ethical and professional considerations that arise at the intersection of psychotherapy and complementary healthcare.

Professor Alessandra Lemma (BSc, MA, MPhil Cantab, MSt Oxon, D.Clin.Psych) is a distinguished Chartered Clinical Psychologist, Psychoanalyst, and Fellow of the British Psychoanalytical Society with over 40 years of experience. Currently a Consultant at the Anna Freud Centre and a Visiting Professor at University College London, she is an internationally recognised expert in trauma, body image, gender identity, digital media impacts, and applied ethics. A recipient of the prestigious 2022 Sigourney Award, Professor Lemma co-developed Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) and has held numerous leadership, academic, and editorial roles, making her a leading global authority on brief and long-term psychological interventions.
