Joan Haliburn is a child, adolescent and family psychiatrist trained in the Conversational Model, trained and experienced in Attachment Disorders while doing assessments for many years, for the then Department of Community Services, later Family & Community Services. She is a founding member of ANZAP and was Director of Training ANZAP for 12 years and President for 3 years. She has been a member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) for many years, and recently retired from its Board of Directors. She has presented workshops and papers, nationally and internationally, written chapters of books, her most recent book “An Integrated Approach to Short-Term Dynamic Interpersonal Psychotherapy” was published by Karnac in 2017 and she co-edited with colleagues, Richard Benjamin & Serena King, “Humanizing Mental Health Care in Australia – a Trauma Informed Approach” published by Routledge in 2019.
